Mr. Paranoia

I’ve worked for a few companies in my life, some I miss and others I try to block out because they were a nightmare. One company in particular I worked for, stood in a category all its own. The owner of the company had only one emotion that made up his entire personality: paranoia. He micro-managed his company and the people under him for fear that someone would steal something from him. Here are two examples and I’m not exaggerating:

1) Cameras monitored every employee and every inch of his property inside and out. He would arrive two hours early and go over the video from the previous closing time to that morning. Once, a boy of about 12-14 years old rode a bike onto the property after hours, turned around and left. Mr. Paranoia had us come in to see if we knew the kid or had ever seen him before—no one did.

He then called police to file a report; he became angry when police told him no crime had been committed so they would not be wasting their time filing any reports. For several weeks after, he and family members (just as paranoid) came in at four-hour shifts overnight, in case the kid showed up again.

2) The most ridiculous one: he even monitored employee bathroom breaks. Restrooms in the company were kept locked; if you needed to go, you went to Mr. Paranoia and asked. He would then come out of his office and escort you to the supply closet. There he would pull out a roll of toilet paper, (that’s right, no toilet paper was kept in the bathroom for fear someone would steal it). He would then roll out two feet of paper, tear it off and hand it to you.

Then the two of you would step over to the bathroom door where he would unlock the door and look at his watch; you had ten minutes to do your business, anything more, and you were docked 15 minutes. Afterward, he inspected the bathroom to make sure you did not leave a mess. Then, you went back outside to a water hose where you could wash your hands if needed. Yep, no soap or towels were kept in the bathroom; you supplied your own.

The current company I work for by far is the best. Like any company, their ways here can get to you occasionally. When I do begin to get aggravated, dreams like the following one pop up to remind me, things could be far worse. So Mr. Paranoia and his company are usually the dream incentive to remind me of what I have.

Tuesday, February 10, 2015; unconscious dreaming

I was working with some local company— what I did, I don’t recall. I had a Ford 3500 dual wheeled pickup I used for work, don’t recall if it belonged to me or the company. However, the employer I was working for sent me out for some diesel fuel. I took two five-gallon cans and placed them in back of the truck. Down the street was the company that belonged to Mr. Paranoia, I recalled he had a 500-gallon fuel tank. I parked the truck a block away from his yard and walked the rest carrying the five-gallon cans.

His yard was empty of personnel and strangely the gates were left open. I walked on in and sat the cans down next to the fuel tank. I pumped both cans full, hung up the nozzle and picked the cans up. Leaving his yard, I cut through a wooded area between his shop and where I parked the truck. Just as I entered the woods I noticed to my right Mr. Paranoia driving by and looking over at his property. He happened to notice a figure, me, moving through the woods with the fuel cans, and he slowed to get a better look.

I knew he had yet to recognize me, so I turned onto a path to the left that took me deeper into the woods and away from the road. I glanced to my right to see him holding up traffic trying to get a good look at me, but I turned my back on him and continued on. He finally sped up and as soon as he was out of sight, I made for my truck. Once there I placed the cans in the back and took off. Since it was so close to lunch time, I went home.

At my house, I suddenly remembered that Mr. Paranoia had cameras all around his property and would be checking them when he got back to his office. I began to panic and realized that I had stolen fuel for no apparent reason. I could not understand why I had done such a thing. I hopped back in the truck and rushed off to Mr. Paranoia’s office.

I pulled into the driveway at the front door and went in.  A receptionist greeted me but looked at me suspiciously.

Hello,” I said, “I wanted to let you know that I stopped by here earlier and mistook this place for a gas station.”  I lied. “I took ten gallons in fuel and wanted to come in here and pay for it.”

That’s a lie,” she came back, “I saw you come up and take the fuel than sneak off into the woods with it. It’s also all on video.”

Look,” I pleaded, “I’m sorry. I don’t know why I did it but I came back and want to pay for the fuel, I’ll even pay extra to make up for it.” I pulled a wade of cash out of my pocket and tried to hand it over.

I’m sorry,” she said unconcerned, “but I can’t accept that. When Mr. Paranoia gets in, he will go over the video and see that you intended to steal from him. It’s out of my hands and you will have to deal with him.”

I knew she was right, after all I knew the guy well, and he would be pressing charges. I walked out to my truck wondering if I should just wait or go ahead to the police department and turn myself in. I did not know what to do; more than anything my mind was boggled and confused as to why I had done this. I got in the truck and sat there contemplating my actions and the effects they would have on the rest of my life. During this time, I woke up.

A personal note; for those of you that have downloaded my app, I want to say thank you. Unfortunately, I will be discontinuing the app at the end of this month. My decision is based on usage and finances. After the time I have had the app running, there have not been enough downloads to justify the cost. This isn’t to say the app is costly; I just have to cut corners somewhere to keep my website and blog going. However, let me throw Como one; if you are in need of an app, Como has an easy format to work with. I’ve also contacted support for some answers and let me say, these people care about their product.

I’m hoping in the future I can bring it back, but it will only be if I come up with some financial support for expandurmind. Thanks again to those of you that have been using it and please continue to check out my site.

A Well Worn Path

“Prayer is speaking to God, meditation is listening to God.”-

Anonymous

I don’t spend a lot of time on my knees asking for guidance. Most of the time it’s when I am out and about as part of multitasking. I usually get most of my prayer questions received as answers in dreams. I have read where some mystics talk directly to God in their meditations or dreams. I believe God is talking to me in some of mine. However, instead of spelling it all out to me, he throws out the letters in the form of dreams. It’s up to me to place it all in order.

“Paths” are usually his biggest hint that a dream is from him, and if I want the answer, figure it out. Once again, I am going to make some changes in my on-line journal. One of those changes will be posting every two weeks. Rushing in order to get a post in each week is taking away from the quality of my writing. I also have some other big changes in store.

The following dream not only shows me I am on the right path but leads me in a direction I was hoping to go, I’ll keep you posted.

Wednesday, February 26, 2014; ( Unconscious dreaming)

I was standing on a worn dirt path, some sixty or more feet wide. The path was pitted with deep pot holes. The holes were all roughly the same size and depth resembling giant foot prints. I could not imagine what kind of creature would have such large paws. I tried to recall how I had gotten here, but my mind was a total blank beyond the time I had arrived.

Nothing seemed to exist in my mind, including who I was. A noise caught my attention, and I looked down the path. It curved off to the left disappearing into the woods. The noise was like that of a horse quickly exhaling but far deeper and louder. Several deeper exhales came through the trees, some echoing over each other. I began to see movement in the form of large gray patches showing from the openings in the pines, soon moving out from the trees into the opening.

Many yards away stepped out a Tyrannosaurus. It stretched its head high into the air and sniffed, exhaling loudly. Its head swung from side to side as if trying to locate some smell. From the trees behind him walked out four more. The group stopped behind the one in front. None were looking at me, just yet. I stood motionless.

“Shh…” came a sound in my ear, and a hand rested softly on my right shoulder.

“Remain quiet and follow me, slowly but do not put your back to them,” the whispered voice directed me. The hand on my shoulder urged me back, and I walked backward never taking my eyes of the herd of Tyrannosaurus’. Moving off the path and leading me behind some trees, the person, a man, motioned me with his finger to follow him.

We walked softly through the woods, picking up our pace further away from the dinosaurs, although we never ran. After a while, we stepped out into a small western looking town.

“Where are we?” I asked.

“Libertarian square,” he said.

Since my worries about being eaten had gone once we came into the town, I finally got a good look at the man who had rescued me. Since I did not know who I was or what I even looked like, I had no idea that my rescuer was me.

“How did you find us? “ he asked.

“I don’t know. My only recall of anything is when I found myself on the path out there,” I informed him.

“No worries, you can stay here as long as you like,” he told me.

“What is this place?” I asked.

“We’re a libertarian community. There are several dozens of us living off the land throughout here.” He waved his arm out over the city toward sparsely open fields in the distance. I saw homes and crops surrounding to just past the edge of the town.

“But what about the dinosaurs?” I wondered.

“They rarely bother us,” he said.

“Seems they would be coming to the town seeing how there are people around to munch on,” I mentioned.

“This used to be their land; however, once we established ourselves here, most of the larger wildlife moved deeper into the woods,” he explained. “The Tyrannosaurus are really dumb. We can hear them stomping through the woods toward us. We then go inside and remain quiet. Once the things see there is nothing here, they go back to the path.”

“Do they stay on the path?” I asked.

“Yes. It works out pretty well for all of us. You see; they made the path which surrounds us for miles. They cannot catch the wildlife through the outer forest. So, what happens is the wildlife sneak over the path at night to feed in our fields. In the morning, they rush off. As they cross the path in the daytime, the dinosaurs catch and eat them.”

“That’s pretty awesome,” I said. “But does anyone ever leave here?”

“Sure, some of us. When we need things we can’t grow or make here. Other then that, it’s very peaceful and fulfilling.”

I followed him up to the dirt street that ran between the buildings of his town. We passed a couple which he did not point out until we were almost in the center.

“That’s our general store,” he said pointing to our right at a wide building. His hand swung to the left at another building. People were going inside along with the man I was with. I followed him up to the steps inside.

“This is our town hall,” he said. “We hold all our meetings here.”

The interior had an old rugged but clean look to it. The main room was bright with electric lights running in rows down the ceiling.

“You have electricity?” I asked.

“Everything is solar,” he replied.

I followed him to the center of the room where we took seats. There were less than a dozen people inside and a woman with thick curly blond hair sat in front of me.

“What is going on here?” I asked.

“Whenever someone new arrives, we have a town meeting. Since we have a potential for growth in the community, we need to make adjustments.”

“Adjustments to what?”

“Wherever needed to make sure the community’s quality of life stays on the right path. This way, our longevity is guaranteed.”

There was a man up in the front standing at a podium. I could not hear what he said but when he finished talking, the woman in front of me stood and faced us. She was in her late thirties or early forties and stood perhaps five-eight or five-nine feet tall. Her polite gaze was directed to me.

“Everyone here has a voice because everyone is part of the whole community. We all have something to offer,” she smiled and sat back down.

I thought about what she said, and I had said moments ago about the community’s quality of life. Then a thought came to me, was it, me or the man who had made the comment? I looked to the left of me, and he was gone. To the right of me, the man I had found on the path also was gone. I then realized I had been both. Things around me went dark, and I realized I was in my room awake.

Path
To walk through an open path in your dream signifies clarity of thought and peace of mind. It also symbolizes your progress. (This would have to do with the path I want to take my website.)

To see a blocked path in your dream denotes that you need to give serious attention to the direction you are heading in your personal and/or business life. You need to take time out to consider and rethink the consequences before acting on your choices. (I took the two weeks since my last post and decided I could give more quality work if I reduced my postings to every other week.)

Potholes

To see a pothole in your dream represents difficulties and setbacks in achieving your goals. You need to make some changes in how you approach your goals. (To me this backs up my decision on posting every other week. giving me more time to dedicate to my online journal.)

Tyrannosaurus-Rex

To see tyrannosaurus-Rex in your dream symbolizes your biggest fears.

(Reading the dream correctly I believe this is all pointing at my blog and the direction I want to take it.)

Five

Five in a dream has a lot of representations; persuasiveness, humanity, senses, a link between heaven and earth and a few others. One that best fits the dream would be, “a change in your path or a need to alter course.” I took the altering course since that is what I did on the path. I’ll also throw in a small part of, “a link between heaven and earth. Mainly to emphasize a message being sent to me.

Yourself
To see yourself in your dream is a reflection of how you act and behave in your waking life. Consider what you are doing and how you are feeling in the dream for additional significance. (In the dream I am helping someone in need or more to the point, looking for answers. This points to aonther avenue I want to my journal down.)

Community
To have a sense of community in your dream means that you need to nurture your relationships with your family/friends and develop new ties. Perhaps you need to look at expanding your network of friends. (When it comes to the dream as a whole, I look at the community; friends/family as my readers. The need to develop new ties.)

Arch

Perhaps one of the easiest ways I have of finding myself in an out-of-body experience, is my memory. When I come to, it is like I have been transported. My mind recalls the last point of origin, which is usually where I went into meditation. Not having any recall of points between here and there is a sure sign, which brings up the story of using it in this reality. When things do not seem quite normal, I recall the time-line from then to when I awoke that morning. If I trace my day back to my alarm, I am surely in my reality and will have to deal with the situation, something I will not be awakening from.

Because I have so many dreams, it is not easy deciding which one to post; the longer ones take a lot of time to write out properly. My mood also influences my choice of which dream to write about and then there is the decision of which one to publish after several are finished.

I had been working on the following dream for some months as you can see from the date. I only had to have my wife edit it and had been putting it off until an incident yesterday, Saturday, January 18, 2014. I had to use my recall to trace back my time-line to when I first awoke. I came to a very fast conclusion, I was indeed awake, which only added to my fear. I felt the need to post the following dream because of the recall I use for my reality checks. If you’re interested in my incident from Saturday from this reality, click here.

Thursday, September 5, 2013;(oobe)

Being a morning person, I am always up before the sun. With the deep dark redness that invades the inside of one’s eyelids, I awoke suddenly, fearing I had slept through my alarm. I was lying on my back but instead of the ceiling above, I saw a clear blue sky. Briefly, I wondered how I had gotten outside. I traced my thoughts back and could only recall going to bed. Then the thought came to me; I was either dreaming or in an OBE.

It’s rare that I come into another world in the lying down position; I usually stand. I also was no longer in my room but in a patch of tall grass. Before moving or sitting up, I listened for any sounds. The only thing that caught my attention, had been the quiet rustling of the long stems of grassy-looking plants I was lying in. I sat up and looked down at what I was wearing. I was expecting nothing, seeing that I went to bed that way. Luckily, I was in my previous day’s clothes. Even in other realms I’m quite modest when I am not dressed. I got on my feet and took in the surrounding scenery. I was in an open field. Many yards away stood an outline of trees that enclosed the area. Off to my right just a few yards were what looked to be an old shack that had become overgrown with bright green vines. I only made a couple of steps toward the shack when something jumped through the grass away from me.

Looking down into the grass while I took another step, I saw small white insects dispersing from me. I looked around me and saw that I was surrounded by them. These insects resembled a cross between crickets and grasshoppers with a pale white coloring. Their long back legs were held up above their bodies. I made another step toward the shack. The insect’s legs pivoted down, striking the grass stems and hopping over a yard away. The ones behind and beside me kept pace with me. Oddly, they all faced me as if inspecting me or out of curiosity. I continued my stroll over to the shack keeping an eye on my companions as I did.

The shack was covered inside and out in thick green foliage. The opening had no door and was in the shape of an arch. At first, the shack seemed to be about eight feet high but coming up to it, I noticed it stood on a mound about two feet tall. The doorway and interior were less than six feet high with a depth of five feet. The side walls I could touch at the same time. The floor was covered with the same grass that was in the field. I stepped back outside, noticing the insects, perhaps over a thousand of them, all still and facing my direction. I looked out over the field to the trees, if that is what they were.

Where I stood the shack seemed to be the center of the circular field but what held my attention were the trees. Still, many yards away, they looked like continuous arches grown together. The trunk’s base was perhaps five to six feet wide and grew around eight feet high. At this point, the trunk split in two parts and grew away from each other at about a 70 degree angle. At twenty-five feet or more up, they curved back down and formed another trunk in the ground some twenty feet apart.

Vines like the one covering the shack grew up on the arch and hung down only a few feet. They also had what looked like yellow and white dots mixed in. I took several steps toward the trees when a flutter of the insects jumped into the air yards away from me. I forgot about them while studying the trees, during which time I guess they had been studying me. While I was looking at them something caught my attention. On the right leg of my pants down around my calf, clung one of the insects.

This gave me some time to get a closer inspection of the small creatures. Because the entire body was dull white, I could make out its large round eyes and dark pupils. The body may have been a bit longer than either crickets or grasshoppers, and the jumper legs sat almost in the rear. These legs , without knees, were held above the body, in the shape of an arch. These hind legs held only one joint, and that was on the body.

The long hind legs grew into a curve much like the arches of the shack’s doorway and the arch of the trees. When it needed to escape, the insect swung its legs down on to the surface it clung to, launching the creature backward. This way, it never lost sight of its pursuer. It was only after awakening later, that I thought of giving this world the name, Arch because of all the similarities. This also inspired me to give my little friends the title, “Archers.”

The Archers held the same six limbs of their earthly counterparts, but the middle walking legs were in the center of the body for balance. The front legs held tiny digits on their ends which on the Archer clinging to me had clasped together as in thought. Its entire form hung there as if it were studying me intently. I bent over to get an even closer look, but it jumped away.

I walked slowly to the edge of the tree line, giving the Archers plenty of time and room to move out-of-the-way. One of them jumped back on my leg, although I could not tell if it was the same one from moments ago. It began to climb up my leg. I slowed my pace and held my arm down by my side. Once to my waist, it cautiously climbed to the cuff of my shirt. I stopped and raised my arm up to my face. We both looked into the eyes of the other. The Archer scanned me over with its left eye while keeping its right eye locked on mine. I continued on to the trees all the while keeping my eyes on my new friend. Up to the trees, it jumped from my arm into the grass.

When I looked around, all of them had kept to the side and back of me. None had jumped to my front, which would have taken them inside the tree line. As I looked down the so-called tree line was an actual line. Inside the ring of trees, the grassy field grew to a height of about a foot, right up to the base of the trees, then ended. From there to inside the trees, the ground was a thick carpet of green moss.

The forest, if you could call it that, was constant as far as you could see. As I had noticed from the shack, these woods were not like anything on earth. The tree’s best description is a cross between the thickness and shape of a large oak but with the bark similar to a pine. Their growth pattern was unlike any trees on earth. The trunk of the tree grew up about eight feet then separated into two parts. These grew out at right angles from one another.

They rose perhaps twenty to twenty-five feet into an arch and back down twenty feet away where each met the trunk of another. This pattern circled the entire field. Due to the odd growth, I could not tell where each tree started or ended. As far as the growth, this could have been one tree surrounding the area. The trees had no branches to speak of other than the green vines similar to those growing over the shack.

The vines on the trees, however, had small yellow and white blossoms, which only grew in a three or four foot wide area at the very bottom of the arches. The vines grew from the top and ran over to the bottom of the arch where, the flowers grew in bunches like grapes on earth. If this had been earth, one thing I would have been sure of is that everything here was by design not naturally grown.

The trees that grew beyond these out in what I called the forest, were not much different. Instead of the trunks parting into two, these split into four sections forty-five degrees apart. These branches arched and met the next set of branches coming from the trunk twenty feet away. This line of tress or maybe tree ran into a straight line off into the distance. Each line of trees was the same and started some ten or more feet from the trees growing surrounding the field.

Each line grew some thirty or more feet apart, but the gap widened the farther down the lines. My guess is, if I could have seen these trees from above, it would resemble a cross stitch or lattice pattern stretching outward. This same technique continued on with each tree in line. I followed one line of the trees. In one of the lines of trees over from me, one of the arches had snapped and fallen. I walked over to the branch which lay on the ground. One end of the branch was still leaning on the trunk it had broken from.

I climbed the branch and stepped into the middle of the trunk. The center was nearly flat and just over two feet wide. Looking at the trees, each trunk lined up so well, that a walkway could have been established from one to another. I climbed back down and continued down this line. So far, I did not encounter any other animal life other than the Archers. I also still noticed that not one of them lived in the woods.

The line of trees ended and had bought me to another field, this one also surrounded by the double arched trees. Looking through the arches, a tall mound perhaps sixty feet high sat in the center of the field. I stepped through into the grass expecting to see more of the Archer’s here but, there seemed to be no life other than plants.

I took a walk around the mound that was covered in the same vines as the shack in the first field. The top was strangely angled like that of a roof. As I made my way to the other side where there was a large arched opening. I immediately noticed that not only was this an exact duplicate of the shack back in the first field, but this one was ten times larger. I figured these sheds or whatever they were, had been grown, not built.

I wanted to go back to the first field and contact the Archers again. I thought I was following the same line of trees, but my walk took much longer going back. I never found the field before I awoke.
